3 Of Kerala Family, On Way To Wedding Function, Die As Car Falls Into River

Three members of a family died today after their car plunged into Arattupuzha river in Kerala’s Thrissur district, police said. The family was on their way to a wedding ceremony at a nearby resort, police said.

Rajendra Babu (66), his wife Sandhya (62) and their grandson Samarth (6) died in the accident when their car was navigating the river road, they said.

According to a police officer, the driver — the 30-year-old son of the elderly couple — sped up when he felt that the car was going to stop, going up the small slope, and the automatic vehicle sped up. and fell into the river taking with it an adjacent signal path.

The couple’s son Sarath Babu was the only survivor of the incident, he said.

The others were unconscious when locals pulled them out of the water, but they died by the time they reached the hospital, the official said.
