Wilson, 72, who retired as a regional development officer, now invests his time in farming, growing crops including yams, bananas and coconuts in his garden.
Due to his interest in agriculture, Wilson, who was born in Verkizhambi Kallanguzhi area of Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district, has grown large-sized yams in his garden.
Wilson, 72, who retired as a regional development officer, is now investing his time in farming growing crops including yams, bananas and coconuts in his garden.
The farmer has been producing and harvesting yams in larger quantities. Meanwhile, it has recently come to light that a farmer in Kerala has broken records by harvesting 45 kg of yams. In this case, Wilson has started growing sweet potato plants as an experiment in an attempt to break the Kerala man’s record. He has harvested potato plants that have reached maturity and are ready for harvest.
One plant in Wilson’s garden had 60 kg of large yams, and another plant had 55 kg of yams. The locals were amazed to see some mega-sized yams for the first time. Eventually, Wilson sought help from Tamil Nadu government horticulture department officials to register the enormous yams he had collected in his garden.
