About 89 Hindu pilgrims from India arrived to celebrate Maha Shivaratri at the Katas Raj temple in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Tuesday.
“A number of 89 Hindu pilgrims arrived here from India through the Wagah border on Tuesday. They were received at the border by Rana Shahid and Fraz Abbas, senior officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board,” Amir Hashmi, a spokesman for Pakistan’s minority holy sites, ETPB. , he told PTI.
Hashmi said the Hindu pilgrims would stay in Lahore for a day before leaving for Chakwal, 300 kilometers from Lahore, to attend their religious festivals at Katas Raj. He said that the main event ‘Maha Shivaratri’ will be held on Thursday itself.
Security measures have been taken in this regard, he added.
Hindu pilgrim leader Sanjiv Kumar said that they receive love from Pakistan and hope that ETPB will take good care of their holy places.
