After Kochi, 5G services to be launched in Thiruvananthapuram soon – KERALA – GENERAL


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday virtually launched 5G services in Kerala’s Kochi. In the first phase, Jio’s 5G service will be available in selected areas of Kochi Corporation. 5G will be available in around 130 towers in Kochi in the initial phase. Also, 5G will be operational in Guruvayur from today.

5G services will be available from December 22 in the capital. 5G will be rolled out to Thrissur, Alappuzha and Malappuram districts early next year. Reliance Jio promises to provide full 5G services across the state by 2023. The company has prepared a system so that customers can enjoy the 5G service without changing SIM cards.

Reliance Jio started making 5G services available in the country from October. 5G has been made available on an experimental basis in the cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Then it spread to other states. Reliance announced that 5G services would be available in all taluks of the country by the end of December.
