All-time classic ‘Kushi’ up for a re-release


The upgraded and remastered version of the film with 4K projection technology will be in theaters for a week until January 6.

Hyderabad: In keeping with the trend of re-releasing old Telugu films in theaters, Pawan Kalyan-Bhumika Chawla’s all-time classic Kushi will once again hit the theaters on December 31, ahead of New Year’s Eve.

The upgraded and remastered version of the film with 4K projection technology will be in theaters for a week until January 6.

Taking to his social media handle, the film’s director SJ Suryah wrote, “A Blockbuster for Ages, An OG Love Saga. Rekindle the Evergreen Romance Enjoy the magic of eternal love all over again #Kushi in theaters near you from 31st December! #KushiReRelease @PawanKalyan @ iam_SJSuryah @bhumikachawlat @pcsreeram #ManiSharma @AMRathnamOfl (sic).”

Kushi was a Telugu remake of the hit Tamil film of the same name starring Vijay and Jyotika. Kushi marked the directorial debut of filmmaker-actor SJ Suryah. Produced by AM Ratnam, the film was shot by PC Sreeram and music was composed by Mani Sharma.

The romantic drama, which released in 2001, became a huge trendsetter at the time, earning Pawan Kalyan a cult following among the audience.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu and Trisha starrer Okkadu is also said to be re-released on January 7. After the news went viral on social media, fans of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu are eager to relive the euphoria of theaters.
