Education imparted to a student in his mother tongue under the new National Education Policy (NEP) will enhance his ability to think, reason, analyze and research, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday.

Addressing a 95th anniversary gathering at Sheth GC High School in Vijapur, Mr. Shah said that work was underway to translate technical, medical and higher education course programs into regional languages, adding that the NEP will make India the country’s first country. in the next 25 years.

According to the British education policy for pre-independence India, he said that it was a sign of intelligence that students lacked the capacity to think, research, reason, analyze, decide and understand, which created many problems in the society. .

“The new education policy which has made fundamental changes, including emphasis on mother tongue, will make India the number one in the world in 25 years,” said the Home and Cooperation Minister.

“If a student can read, speak and think in mother tongue, it will increase his thinking ability, reasoning power, analytical ability and research ability in this child,” said Mr. Shah.

“The basic change of the NEP is to educate students in their mother tongue as much as possible at the primary and secondary levels. I am sure that in another two, five, seven years, all students in the country will be educated in their mother tongue and their mothers will be able to teach them in their own language,” he said. has

Along with this, technical, medical and higher education is being translated into the mother tongue, Mr. Shah said. Medical education in Bhopal was being imparted in Hindi after the first semester syllabus was translated, he added.

“Gujarat, Telugu, Odia, Punjabi and Bengali – higher education and medical courses will be started in all these languages. Thereafter, India will start contributing significantly in research and development,” he said.

Mr. Shah said that a person is capable of original thinking only when the subject to be pondered is taught in his mother tongue and the new education policy will help provide a platform to the child’s inherent abilities in art and music etc.

“NEP has created a huge role for trade and skill education. More than 50% students will be connected to trade education before class 10, which will help lead to self-employment, micro and rural industries,” asserted Mr. Shah. .
