An abduction that wasn’t! Telangana woman kidnapped in front of father emerges married 12 hours later

It took twelve hours for an 18-year-old woman kidnapped in a Telangana village on Tuesday morning to be remarried to one of the abductors who happened to be her boyfriend. On Tuesday morning, the incident went viral on social media with videos of the girl’s abduction circulating on social media in front of her father.

CCTV footage shows two men, with their faces covered, get out of a white sedan and force the girls into the car before speeding away. All this happened in front of the father who is also seen on CCTV.

However, when the evening dawned, the girl released a wedding video, which showed the bride and groom’s attire. The woman stated that she was married to her boyfriend who was one of the kidnappers. According to the girl, she tried to escape with the man before, but she didn’t succeed.

The girl further revealed that her father was against inter-caste relationship and now she fears for her life and that of her husband. The girl also said that the couple got married 10 months ago. However, the marriage could not be legally valid because he was underage at the time. The 24-year-old was accused of sexual assault and child marriage.

The girl said age was no longer a factor as the couple decided to get married in a temple on Tuesday.

Was the kidnapping staged?

The girl, however, refused to admit to acting out the incident caught on CCTV this morning. According to her, the four men who approached her and forced her into the car had their faces covered, so she thought they were kidnapping her, she says, adding that it was only after she realized that one of the men was her boyfriend. he decided to marry her.

According to a media report, the man belongs to a Scheduled Caste, while the woman belongs to an Other Backward Class community.

The police swung into action in Rajanna Sircilla district around 5.30 am after the video showing the woman being forced into the car and formed six teams to find her.

“A case has been registered and we are making all efforts to trace them. Four people participated in the event. The girl ran away with her lover in the past. Now that he has become an adult, he (his lover) could take her. Three teams have been formed to get them,” Vemulawada DSP, Nagendra Chary said earlier today.
