Andhra Pradesh Government Announces Financial Assistance To Cyclone Victims

The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday ordered the release of financial aid to the victims of Cyclone Mandous. He has announced financial assistance of Rs 2000 to each family and Rs 1000 per person.

It has been ordered to provide financial assistance to the victims while they leave the rehabilitation centers. Financial assistance should be provided to the victims of cyclone-affected Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa and Annamayya districts.

Incessant rains flooded the lowlands, disrupted traffic, disrupted daily life and ruined crops. Low-lying areas were submerged due to heavy rains that affected SPSR Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya and YSR Kadapa districts. Since Friday, it has been raining continuously, causing rivers, streams and lakes to overflow.

Prakasam district received heavy rainfall for the second day on Sunday. The flood water entered houses in few colonies in the affected areas of Peddaraveedu Mandal.

The chilli crop was badly damaged in a part of Prakasam district due to incessant downpour. Farmers said that if the rains continued for another couple of days, they would lose their entire crop. Farmers who have invested heavily in their crops have asked the government to come to the rescue.

In Nellore district, rain continued at several places for the third consecutive day. The rains have caused heavy damage to crops of more than hundreds of hectares in 118 villages of the district.

According to agriculture department officials, the continuous rains have damaged rice, cotton, groundnut, red gram and black gram. Farmers in Guntur district have also suffered huge crop loss due to incessant rain for the last three days. Paddy crops were submerged in some parts of the district. Farmers, who had hoped to harvest their crops in a few days, were distraught at the loss.
