AP CM YS Jagan Review Meeting With Women & Child Welfare Dept


Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed to focus on improving the infrastructure of Anganwadi Centers to provide quality nutrition to the officials and children so as not to compromise with good environment.

In a review meeting on the Women and Child Welfare Department held here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that Sortex rice should be supplied to Anganwadi Centers and officials should not be lax in maintaining the quality of nutritional kits supplied to children. .
The quality of food kits should be of the highest standard and the facilities provided to children in Anganwadi Centers should be increased and tangible.
The officials informed the chief minister about the implementation of the decisions taken in the last meeting. He has given the nod to fill the 61 vacant posts of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) in Anganwadi Centers and directed the officials concerned to speed up the process besides filling up the remaining posts. The appointments to the vacant CPDO posts will be made by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), officials informed the chief minister.

He asked the officials to speed up the work started under the Nadu-Nedu program and ensure steps are taken to complete the work on time. The officials should be satisfied that they are doing better for the children than before and for this the necessary facilities should be fully provided. The curriculum should also be changed in Anganwadi Centers as children’s brains mature quickly and they can grasp anything quickly for better understanding, the Chief Minister said.

If required for curriculum change, a special officer should be appointed to develop a strong language foundation for children and adopt good practices from Anganwadi Centers. The Chief Minister further said that inspections should be conducted at Anganwadi Centers with the help of newly appointed officers. Specific changes are to be noticed in three aspects which include inspections, quality and Nadu-Nedu programme.

The government has paid special attention to the departments of agriculture, education, health, housing and women and children’s welfare. All efforts are being made to improve standards in the respective departments, he confirmed. Supervisors should work properly and their performance should also be monitored to improve the functioning and quality of Anganwadi Centers.
