A 52-year-old technician who had been living with heart disease and mental health problems died in a suspected suicide in Bengaluru on Monday, police said.
The victim is a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout in the city and was working as a software engineer in a private company.
According to police, the incident took place near Kurrubarahalli junction in North Bengaluru on Monday evening.

“On Monday, he went to the office, parked his car near Mahalakshmi Layout Park. Then he asked people to cover the car using a plastic sheet. And then he committed suicide,” said Vinayak Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police North.
The Mahalakshmi Layout police rushed to the spot, and he was immediately taken to the hospital in the same car. However, the technician died by the time he was admitted to the hospital, the police said.
Later, the police informed the family about what had happened. According to the family, the victim had a heart condition and the treatment affected his mental health.

The victim also Googled about the problems caused by heart disease and the impact it would have on the patient and family, police said.
“She was suffering from some health problems and also shared suicidal tendencies with the family,” Patil said.
A suicide death report (UDR) has been registered by the Mahalakshmi Layout police.
