The Brownsville Area Elementary School PTO has extended its collection of gently worn, used and new shoes through January 10th.
The PTO will earn funds based on the total weight of the gently spent, used and new pairs collected on Funds2Orgs. So far 61 bags (1,525 pairs of shoes) have been collected. Ann Dugan, BAES PTO member, said the goal is to collect 100 bags or 2,500 pairs of shoes.
All donated shoes will be distributed through the Funds2Orgs network of small business partners. Funds2Orgs works with them to help start, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunities and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sale of shoes collected at this and other fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house families.
Shoes can be dropped off at Brownsville Area Elementary School, 1205 Brashear Ave., Brownsville, or Hiller Volunteer Fire Company, 937 1st St., Hiller. Anyone with questions or who needs to make arrangements to pick up the shoes can contact Dugan at 724-366-7045.
