BRS Conversion is Illegal: TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A. Revanth Reddy on Monday termed the conversion of Telangana Rashtra Samiti into Bharata Rashtra Samithi as illegal.

In a tweet, Revanth Reddy questioned the Election Commission of India’s approval of BRS, ignoring objections raised by it over its notification. He stated that cases related to collection of donations made by former TRS elected officials under the “bangaru kooli” program are also pending. The PCC leader asked whether the ECI had acted independently or at the behest of the Centre, whose leadership had a tacit understanding with its members in the BRS.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy’s case challenging the EC’s permission was filed on Monday. His lawyers argued that the PCC chief had complained to the Income Tax department against the collection of money by TRS ministers, MLAs and other leaders, but it was not accounted for in the annual returns.

The court, however, closed the case, allowing the petitioner to file a special case with the relevant departments as respondents.
