Chennaiyin FC coach Thomas Brdaric was happy with his team’s performance and the way they bounced back with a good mindset after sharing points with Kerala Blasters FC in a tense tie at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
“Everything was open in the last 10 minutes. It was possible to win, draw or lose. This is the drama I like in football. Today was a great fight between the two teams, both teams want to be in the playoffs. We learn from the mistakes made in the past and we don’t repeat the same mistakes again and we prevented something like that in a good way, especially in the second half. A point today feels like a victory,” said Brdaric.
Sahal Samad opened the scoring for the visitors in the 23rd minute but Bradric’s men responded strongly in the second half and scored in the 48th minute as Vincy Barretto smashed the ball home from close range.
Chennaiyin FC are seventh in the ISL points table, while Kerala Blasters FC remain fourth as the league crosses the halfway mark, according to a statement published by the ISL website.
Addressing the media in the post-match conference, Brdaric called on his players to learn from the mistakes of the past and not to repeat them again as the team strives for a playoff spot.

Brdaric also spoke about how the fiercely competitive ISL players are improving their level, bringing the supporters and the whole team together to be a part of the CFC family.
“I’m happy that we bounced back, with a good mentality and strength. It was a good effort as we played against a good team, a team that had won their last five games. As a coach you are never satisfied, of course we have to improve, but today’s situation, with the fans and opponents, it was a great event. I am very proud of the fans, how they support us and the atmosphere, that is something we need”, said the coach.
A narrow 1-1 draw between Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters FC ended their five-match winning streak in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
Sahal Abdul Samad put the Blasters ahead in the first half before Vincy Barreto scored against his former club with an equalizer in the second.
Blasters will return home to host Odisha FC on Monday, December 26. Chennaiyin FC remain in seventh place, now four points off the last playoff spot. Marina Machans travel to the west coast to face Mumbai City FC on Saturday, December 24. (ANI)
