The Carbon High School (CHS) marching band was recognized at last week’s Carbon School Board meeting. The marching band was paraded in front of the table Wednesday evening for winning the runner-up trophy for their success at state last month.
The team battled in a competitive division this season against Delta, Ogden, Canyon View and Grand. Ogden took first place in the state, with Carbon second. They were followed by Canyon View in third, Delta in fourth and Grand in fifth.
Carbon Bands Director Adam Cunningham stated that he was very proud of the work and time the band invests not only in representing CHS, but in representing the entire community. Rehearsals for the new season begin in March to prepare the band for the various parades they participate in throughout the summer, including Days of 47 in July.
Superintendent Mika Salas concluded the recognition by thanking Cunningham and Assistant Principal Chris Sweeney for their time with the team.
“Without you, they wouldn’t be here with all your hard work and dedication,” Salas said.
