The Chamber is the apex body of various organizations involved in the Malayalam film industry.
Seventy-four-year-old Madhavan, a former IAS officer, has written a short story titled ‘Higuita’ and when he heard about the film, he expressed his displeasure and informed the House about the issue, and asked director Hemant G. .Nair not to use Higuita as the title of his debut film.
“I have been talking to people about making a film on my story Higuita and now that it has already come out, I feel sad,” said Madhavan.
But Nair says that while the title has similarities with Madhavan’s story, the film has no connection.
“The film was announced in 2019 and the title was also registered in the Chamber. Later, it was held in a big launch event and social media was also active with this. I don’t understand why there is a problem,” said Nair.
Veteran award-winning Malayalam film personality Venu termed the development as an “unnecessary” controversy, saying he did not understand the merit of what the writer said.
