Amid the rapid rise in Covid cases, the Center has asked states to conduct a simulation to ensure quick response in health facilities if the country’s Covid cases rise again. the drill will be held on Tuesday.
– The focus of the simulation would be the availability of hospital beds: isolation beds, oxygen isolation beds, ICU beds and ventilator assisted beds.
The drill would focus on the availability of doctors, nurses, paramedics, AYUSH doctors and other frontline workers such as ASHA workers and anganwadi workers.
-The exercise would also check whether these health workers are properly trained to handle Covid patients and medical oxygen supply.
– The purpose of the drill will be to increase the capacities of testing for Covid, ensuring the easy availability of rapid RT-PCR and antigen kits.
-In a letter addressed to the states, the Secretary of Health has paid special attention to medical oxygen, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, PSA plants, liquid medical oxygen storage tanks and the medical gas pipeline system.
