India has recorded 227 new Covid cases

India recorded 227 new coronavirus infections, while active cases rose to 3,424, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The number of Covid cases has been 4.46 million (4,46,77,106).

The death toll stands at 5,30,693, with two deaths reported in Kerala and one death reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, data updated at 8 am showed.

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.01 percent of all infections, and the national recovery rate for COVID-19 has risen to 98.80 percent.

China to stop publishing daily Covid cases amid new surge

China’s National Health Commission, which has published daily figures for the country’s COVID-19 cases for the past three years, said it would no longer release those figures from Sunday.

“The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention will publish relevant information on COVID for reference and research,” the NHC said in a statement, without specifying the reasons for the change or how often the Chinese CDC will update the information on COVID.
