Delhi Metro Magenta line drone falls on metro track trains stop midway commuters panic

Delhi: Metro train services The Jasola Vihar-Shaheen Bagh and Botanical Garden stretch of the Magenta Line was disrupted for about half an hour on Sunday evening after a drone carrying medical supplies fell on the railway track, officials said.

“We got a call around 2.35 pm that a drone was found on the metro track near Jasola vihar. Police, dog team attended and found a packet of medicine in it. The drone belongs to a company in Noida, which supplies medicines through,” said Jitendra Mani, DCP Metro.

“We are verifying their documents whether there is permission from DGCA or not. We are investigating and necessary action will be taken based on the investigation,” J Mani said.

According to information, the drone fell on the metro track near Jasola Vihar. There was panic among commuters as metro trains stopped midway.

Delhi Police, CISF and DMRC personnel immediately swung into action and their teams reached the area where the drone crashed. It was safely removed from the subway tracks so that services could resume.

During the operation, passengers had to face a tough time as no one was allowed to enter or exit the metro station.

After half an hour, normal services resumed on the Magenta line, DMRC said.

The Delhi Police has taken possession of the drone and will hand it over to its owner later.
