Devulapalli Amar appointed adviser to AP government

Senior journalist Amar Devulapalli was appointed as the National Media and Inter-State Affairs Adviser to the Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday. His tenure coincides with that of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is being given the status of a cabinet minister.

In a journalistic career spanning over 43 years, Mr. Amar worked
Eenadu, Andhra Bhoomi, Udayam and
Andhra Pradesh In addition to editing an independent weekly,
Prajatantra . Currently, Sakshi hosts a news program on TV and is also a consultant newspaper editor.

Mr. Amar has been active in journalists’ unions, president of the Andhra Pradesh Journalists’ Co-operative Union, general secretary of the Indian Journalists’ Union (IJU) and currently its president. He was also the President of the AP Press Academy from 2004 to 2009 and is a member of the Press Council of India (PCI). He was awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards by Telugu University and Narla Foundation.


Telangana State of Working Journalists (TUWJ), IJU and APUWJ congratulated him on his appointment and hoped that he would be a bridge between the government and journalists.
