The IMD has predicted widespread rain over Tamil Nadu from December 19 onwards
Rain is expected in Tamil Nadu from Monday, according to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Heavy rain is expected in Ramanathapuram, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Pudukottai districts of the state.
On Wednesday, the meteorological service also predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruvarur, Kallakurichi and Thanjavur districts.
A low pressure system that formed over Southeast Bengal and the nearby Equatorial Indian Ocean is likely to bring rain to the state, resulting in widespread showers across the state.
All coastal regions of Tamil Nadu can expect light to moderate rains from Monday onwards, according to the meteorological agency.
A three-day retrospective of Brazilian filmmaker Joao Moreira Salles from December 19
Three documentaries by Brazilian director Joao Moreira Salles are being screened by the Brazilian Embassy in association with the Indian Habitat Center (IHC), IANS reported.
No Intenso Agora, the first film of the three-day retrospective starting on December 19, examines and compares images of the political upheavals of the 1960s, from the military coup in Brazil to the Chinese Cultural Revolution, from the student uprisings in Paris to the end of the Prague Spring.
The second film, “Nelson Freire”, which will be shown on December 20, is a documentary about the Brazilian musician and pianist Nelson Freire. Santiago, which focuses on a former servant of the filmmaker and his parents, will end its retrospective on December 21. Film critic Murtaza Ali Khan, who organized the retrospective for the embassy, will present the films.
The famous Brazilian documentary filmmaker Joao Moreira Salles was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1962. He has won awards for his work as a producer and director. In Brazil, he founded the popular magazine Piaui that year.
