Hyderabad: Female cricketers Gongadi Trisha (Telangana) and M Shabnam (Andhra Pradesh) from Telugu speaking states were picked for India’s Under-19 women’s team for the home series against New Zealand.

Both these players were considered for the series with New Zealand after showing excellent performances in the recently concluded Women’s U19 T20 series in Vishakhapatnam. They represented India B Women’s U-19s in the Quadrangular series.

India’s U-19 women’s team will play a five-match series against New Zealand from November 27 to December 6 in Mumbai.

Trisha in particular showed her class with the bat scoring 49 and 58 and also claimed a wicket in the quadrangular series to help the U-19 B team win crucial matches.

India’s home series against New Zealand is a prelude to the U-19 Women’s World Cup starting in South Africa on January 14.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh cricketers like Riki Bhui (Vizag), Avinash (Vizag), Kiran Shinde, SK Rashid (Guntur) and Girinadh Reddy (Ananthapur) were picked by various IPL franchises for the 2023 IPL season. While Riki Bhui will represent KKR, Kiran and Rashid will represent Mumbai Indians in the 20203 IPL. Avinash and Girinadh were picked by Rajasthan Royals.
