Govt calls out 3 YouTube channels spreading fake news


Three YouTube channels have been found making sensational and false claims about various organizations and government initiatives.

Author: Poulomi Saha: The Center on Tuesday summoned three YouTube channels for making false and sensational claims about its various initiatives and spreading fake news.

The Verification Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) found that these three YouTube channels — News Headlines, Sarkari Update and Aaj Tak Live — were using thumbnails and images of TV news channels and their news anchors to mislead viewers. the news they shared was real.

According to an official statement issued by the government, these YouTube channels spread false and sensational claims about the Supreme Court of India, Chief Justice of India, government schemes, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and farm loan exemptions, among others.

“These channels were also found to be showing ads in their videos and monetizing misinformation on YouTube,” the statement said.
