Thiruvananthapuram: Police are investigating the murder of Greeshma, who allegedly poisoned her male friend to death in Thiruvananthapuram, who had the help of her mother Sindhu and uncle Nirmal. Meanwhile, the police jailed his mother and uncle and charged them with trying to destroy crucial evidence in the case.
Greeshma (22) was arrested for serving an ayurvedic concoction laced with pesticides to Sharon Raj, a native of Parassala, as her marriage to another man was fixed. Later, Greeshma confessed to the police that she poisoned Sharon in order to eliminate her after her engagement. He told the police that he committed the crime alone. However, the police were wary of his statement, and decided to investigate the role played by his relatives.
Greeshma, who tried to commit suicide by drinking disinfectant at the Nedumangad police station, remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Medical College. When he is recovered, he will likely be taken to a police cell.
Minister Antony Raju on Wednesday said that the investigation into the murder case is on track. He addressed the media after visiting Sharon’s home. We will examine whether the municipal police that initially investigated the case made any mistakes, he added.
