Here is the latest SEC sports news from The Associated Press | National Sports

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Sam Hartman completed 23 of 36 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns in his final game with Wake Forest, a 27-17 win over Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl. The redshirt junior will now consider entering the NFL draft or transferring. Hartman threw his 108th career touchdown pass on an Atlantic Coast Conference record-setting 5-yard strike to Taylor Morin to make it 7-0 with 9:43 left in the first quarter. He was tied with Clemson’s Tajh Boyd and finished with 110 TD passes.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – No. 1 Georgia has bolstered its depth at wide receiver for the 2023 season, picking up two wide receiver transfer commitments from other Southeastern Conference teams. Missouri’s Dominic Lovett and Mississippi State’s Rara Thomas announced their decisions on their Twitter accounts. Each ranked in the SEC’s top 15 in receiving yards in 2022. Lovett, a sophomore, ranked fourth in the league with 846 receiving yards on 56 catches. He had three touchdown catches. Thomas, also a sophomore, was 14th with 610 yards on 38 catches, including seven touchdowns. They can’t play the Bulldogs in this season’s College Football Playoff.

JEFFERSON, Ga. (AP) – Devon Wales was paralyzed during a game against Georgia in 2015. Now, the former University of the South wide receiver is attending the school where he was in trouble. After moving to Wales state after his injury, a Georgia fan took him in and helped build a large, accessible home for Wales and his family away from the Athens campus. When Wales decided to resume college, he was accepted to Georgia ahead of the fall 2021 semester. Now, as a Georgia Bulldog, she is working toward her communications degree.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – On paper, the Peach Bowl matchup between No. 1 Georgia’s defense and No. 4 Ohio State’s offense is a College Football Playoff semifinal showdown. Georgia ranks second in the nation with its 12.8 points allowed average. Ohio State ranks second with 44.5 points per game. Georgia’s defense has extra motivation heading into the Dec. 31 Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The Bulldogs will test quarterback CJ Stroud and the Buckeyes’ high-scoring offense, especially after LSU passed for 502 yards in a 50-30 win over Georgia on Dec. 3 in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

DATES (AP) – Deion Sanders was the star attraction of this year’s class of new black coaches at major college programs. But the Colorado coach was one of three black candidates hired by Football Bowl Subdivision schools in the just-completed cycle for the 2023 season. Unless there are additional changes, 14 of the 133 FBS teams will have black head coaches next season. Approximately 10.5% of all coaches, and is down from 15 at the start of the season. Black’s other new coaches are Ryan Walters at Purdue and Kenni Burns at Kent State.
