Hyderabad: The city is on alert as Covid-19 cases continue to rise sharply in China. On Friday, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) issued new guidelines to international passengers arriving at the Hyderabad airport to contain the spread of the virus.

The guidelines, which will come into force from Saturday, state that all international travelers must ensure they are fully vaccinated. He also said that two percent of passengers would undergo a random RT-PCR test upon arrival.

Airport authorities announced that Covid-positive passengers will be informed of the isolation protocol.

According to new estimates by an analytics firm, China could record more than a million new infections and at least 5,000 deaths every day.

London-based Airfinity released new estimates that predicted cases in China would continue to grow with two peaks, one in mid-January and the second in early March.
