Include lessons on Indian Constitution in school curriculum: Minorities Commission chairman

The school curriculum should include lessons on the Constitution of India to create awareness among the younger generation about the country’s fundamental principles, rights of all citizens, etc., Tamil Nadu Minorities Commission Chairman S. Peter Alphonse said.

Addressing a function organized as part of the institution’s centenary celebrations at St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai on Monday, Mr. Peter Alphonse, an alumnus, said that the younger generation should be aware of the rights guaranteed to every citizen by the Constitution of India. As the younger generation needs a better understanding of Constitutional rights, it should be included in the school curriculum.

Social justice which is being discussed at various levels in modern days saw that it was sown by Christian missionaries in India taking education and health to every nook and corner of the country, especially in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Peter Alphonse stated that apart from taking care of the health of the poorest among the poor of all castes, they were also given free quality education.
