On December 17, Andhra Pradesh police imposed Section 144 of the CrPC banning large gatherings in Palnadu district following violent clashes between Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers.
According to the police, supporters of the two parties attacked each other with sticks and stones during a ‘Idhemi Kharma Rastraniki’ programme, which allegedly highlighted the “failures” of the ruling YSRCP government.
Police said many people were injured in the clashes and taken to hospital, prompting authorities to launch a search operation to clear items linked to more clashes. (ANI)
