jio: Jio rolls out 5G services in Kerala

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday inaugurated the 5G services offered by Jio in Kerala. The telecom major’s 5G services were launched in Kochi City and Guruvayur Temple premises.

According to reports, Vijayan launched Jio True 5G and Jio True 5G Powered Wi-Fi services, digitally from Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking at the event, Vijayan said that 5G services will bring transformative benefits to the people of Kerala in the long run.

Jio, in a statement, said it has invested over Rs 6,000 crore to roll out 5G network in Kerala and will launch 5G services in Thiruvananthapuram later this month followed by Thrissur, Kozhikode and Malappuram by January 2023.

He said 5G will enable citizens and governments to be connected in real time and will also improve deployment and efficiency.

Starting today, Jio users in Kochi and Guruvayur will be invited to Jio Welcome Offer to experience Unlimited Data at 1Gbps+ speed at no extra cost, it added.

5G is a fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting large amounts of data at very high speeds. Compared to 3G and 4G, 5G has very low latency which will improve user experience in various sectors. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very large volume of data messages with minimal delay.
