The Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday seized a house in Barzulla area registered in the name of late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. According to officials, the property was believed to have been purchased by Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) in the late 1990s and registered in the name of Geelani, who lived there until early 2000. Then he shifted to Hyderpora area. city. It is noteworthy that Geelani died in September last year.

The property was later used as the residence of JeI’s ‘Ameer’ (head), officials said. The SIA also seized another house in the same area, they said.

Why did SIA seize Jel’s properties?

Moreover, the authorities stressed, the SIA’s action is part of the seizure of several assets of the banned JeI.
