Karnataka govt’s key Covid meet tomorrow ahead of New Year celebrations | Bengaluru

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the government may release Covid-19 guidelines for New Year celebrations in the state on Monday. He also said that a meeting will be held with the ministers regarding the guidelines for the celebrations.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Bommai said, “Keeping in mind the international resonance, the guidelines will be decided in tomorrow’s (Monday) meeting, which will also be attended by ministers and technical experts. We will take decisions after analyzing the true situation regarding the spread of COVID.

Meanwhile, Karnataka health minister K Sudhakar has also said that precautionary measures should be taken during the New Year celebrations. “We have called this meeting so that the situation of the first and second wave does not repeat itself, and for that precautionary measures must be taken. As the state will see the New Year celebrations, the meeting will discuss what kind of vigilance should be maintained, what preventive measures should be taken in the places”, said the minister.

The Karnataka government has made face masks mandatory in enclosed spaces and air-conditioned rooms on Thursday. The government will also conduct a mock trial for an emergency response to deal with Covid in all state hospitals.
