Kerala CM Condoles Death Of Sabarimala Pilgrims From TN


Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday mourned the death of eight Sabarimala devotees from Tamil Nadu who died in a road accident in Theni district.

The accident happened as the pilgrims were returning home after offering prayers at the Lord Ayyappa temple in the southern state.

Calling the incident “sad”, Vijayan conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased, a CMO statement said here.

He also praised the rescue mission carried out by officials and locals at the accident site on Friday night, he added.

State Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan also expressed grief over the death of Ayyappa’s devotees.

In a message, he said there were at least 10 people in the vehicle that crashed, including a child.

The Idukki District Collector was given the task of coordinating the rescue operations and the Tamil Nadu Devaswom authorities were contacted that night.


While seven people died on the spot, one was injured on the way to the hospital, the authorities added.
