Kia India has established a definite name in the Indian SUV segment. It has Seltos and Sonet in this segment, which are two of the most prominent products in India. It also plans to bring a full-size SUV to rival India’s most popular SUV. We are talking about a new Kia Fortuner rival that will be revealed in January. What is this new SUV? Let’s find out!
Fortuner Rival – Kia Sorento
Kia has a wide range of cars available globally. Sorento is one of the world class products. Basically, it is on par with its corporate partner Hyundai. Kia balances its Sorento with Hyundai’s Santa Fe. Both these cars also share the same platform and have familiar engine choices.
The design
According to reports, Kia has imported the new Sorento and Carnival MPV in India. If we talk about the former, the Sorento is an SUV with similar dimensions to the Fortuner. This new Kia SUV measures 4810 mm in length, 1900 mm in width and 1700 mm in height. The design of the car tries to maintain a bold SUV look with Kia’s distinctive Tiger Nose grille. The grille is complemented by stylish LED headlights, sharp looking bumpers and more.
Rival Fortuner – Features
The interior blends well the balance of the two Kia SUVs available in India. It is inspired by Seltos and Sonet, as we could see the similarities in the image above. The horizontally placed panel is where we can see the Sonet-style air vents and climate control. These include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, premium sound system, ADAS and more.
Specifications
The Kia Sorento is available with two engine options in European markets. It’s a 1.6 liter petrol hybrid and we also have a 2.2 liter diesel option. The hybrid engine makes around 230 bhp, while the diesel mill produces 202 bhp. You also get a plug-in hybrid version with a 90bhp motor powered by a 16.6kWh battery pack. This combination produces a total power output of 265 bhp. The 4×4 engine option is only available with this engine option while the other engine configuration gets the FWD configuration.
Rival Fortuner – Launch and Prices
