Kochi police busts fake visa racket, 2 held, 2 arrested for issuing fake visas to European countries, kerala news


Kochi: The Ernakulam rural crime branch unit busted a fake visa and arrested two persons here on Monday. The accused are Jobin Michael (35), a native of Kasaragod, and Prithviraj Kumar (47) of Palakkad. The couple gave fake visas to several people to travel to European countries like Spain after collecting a large sum of money.

Earlier, a young woman and two others were deported from Spain for traveling on a false visa. Based on the details provided by them, the police were able to arrest the culprits on Monday.

Minimum educational qualifications and related documentation are mandatory for visa processing. The accused obtained a false visa after submitting false documents. After this, these visas were sold to the public. According to the police, the accused collected Rs 6 lakh from each applicant.

The police said the accused cheated the applicants who had only Plus 2 qualification. They were deported to India after they were caught using fake visas when they landed in Spain.
