Lagos govt recalls principal for violating supreme court judgement – Muslim News Nigeria

The Lagos State government has recalled the Principal of Eletu-Odibo Junior High School, Abule-Oja, Yaba, Mrs Christiana Sofuye and other staff for flouting the supreme court ruling on hijab.

This was contained in a circular issued by the Principal Tutor/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Osinaike Olusegun Olawale, stating that anyone who violates the Supreme Court ruling on hijab in schools will face dire consequences.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the hijab, the constitutional right of Muslim students to wear it in schools.

The senior mentor said the Lagos State government strictly frowns upon disobedience to the Supreme Court ruling.

He added that other agents related to the violation in the school have also been recalled along with the principal.

The statement read: “Consequent to the Supreme Court ruling on the use of hijab in Lagos State Schools on June 17, 2022 and the Head of Service Circular 068 dated December 5, 2022 which was made available to all Principals. Information Platform *(Formation of Notice E34)*, information available to us alleged Eletu -That the principal of Odibo High School, Abule-Oja, Yaba decided to violate the judgment of the Apex Court and the HOS Circular, which is misconduct and punishable under the Lagos State Public Service Rule (PSR).

“However, the principal and other officers involved have been removed from the school with immediate effect while investigations are carried out.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any principal or staff who in future assaults students on the issue of hijab or violates the hijab ruling in one way or the other will face dire consequences. It should be noted that the Lagos State Government strictly frowns upon disobedience and will take it seriously. “.
