Mysore | People in Karnataka’s Mysuru district were relieved on Friday that the man-eating leopard was finally trapped in a cage. Leopard attacked and killed student Manjunath at Mallikarjunaswamy Hill. He also attacked the cattle and created panic in the area.

The forest department had been trying to capture the seven-year-old male leopard for two months. Officials tried various tactics to catch the leopard, but it managed to evade them and escape into the forest.

The leopard was eventually trapped in a cage at Ukkalgere village in T. Narsipur taluk for attacking a calf. Hundreds of local people arrived to see and celebrate the captured leopard. Forest officials also visited the spot and sources said a decision on further action would be taken after consulting senior officials. (IANS)
