HYDERABAD: The case of a 10-year-old girl who went missing from school on Thursday turned tragic after her body was found in the Dammaiguda lake near her school on Friday morning. The incident took place in Jawaharnagar police station limits of Medchal district near the city.
It has been reported that the girl, who was studying in class 4 of Dammaiguda Zilla Parishad High School, left her bag at school and left the premises, and did not return home on Thursday. When the school management informed his parents that he was missing from school in the morning, his parents immediately started looking for him and informed the police by 1:00 pm in the evening.
After the police started search operations, they found that there were no CCTV cameras in the school premises. However, the girl was spotted on a CCTV camera located at the Dammaiguda junction. The dog team and the Clues Team were called and the trail was taken to Dammaiguda Lake and halted. His body was later found in the lake. Police rushed the girl’s body to Gandhi Hospital in a police jeep for autopsy.
The girl’s parents and relatives were upset that the police did not show the girl’s body and got into an argument with the police. They also suspected that antisocial elements and drug addicts had been seen around the lake and that they played a role in the child’s death. It is unclear why the girl walked out of school after her father dropped her off in the morning. CCTV footage shows him walking alone on the road.
The police remained tight-lipped about the incident and post-mortem reports are awaited.
