BENGALURU: A painter was arrested for blackmailing a 25-year-old female software engineer after a lost pen drive containing her private photos and videos was found. The victim gave him Rs 70,000 after promising to return the memory device. But he didn’t, and he continued to harass her. He approached the CEN police of South East division, who arrested the accused, Shoaib Ahmed, and recovered the pen drive.

After the victim, a resident of Begur road, lost the pen drive, Shoaib found it. He checked its contents and also found her mobile number. He sent her some photos and videos from the pen drive on WhatsApp and asked her for money.

“He threatened the victim that the photos and videos would be uploaded on social networks if he did not pay. But when he kept asking for money, she lodged a complaint on October 30,” said an officer.
