Hyderabad: While the newly appointed TPCC president A Revanth Reddy is busy greeting senior party leaders, some of those aspirants for the post were believed to have subtly shown their indifference.
The new TPCC president is all set to take charge on Wednesday and is planning a rally from Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills to Gandhi Bhavan.
Also on Tuesday, Revanth Reddy called on senior leaders including TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Vikramarka CLP leader Mallu Bhatti and Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy will take oath at the function as he plans to go to Bengaluru.
Sources said that Uttam Kumar Reddy will join a Nature Cure center in Bengaluru, but the fact is that he will not be in charge when his successor takes over. Party circles are keen that this was the way Uttam Kumar Reddy wanted to make his displeasure known. But the outgoing president said he would be available to party cadres to provide support on any issue. Talking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that he would attend the monsoon sessions of the parliament from July 19.
Revanth Reddy called former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, another aspirant from his constituency and then CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
The CLP leader appealed to the party cadre to work as per the instructions of AICC President Sonia Gandhi. He wanted party cadres to turn up in large numbers for Revanth Reddy’s swearing-in ceremony. Earlier, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, who met Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at his headquarters, said the CLP leader had earlier recommended the names of former minister D Sridhar Babu, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and MLC T Jeevan Reddy for the new post of TPCC president.
“There is no dissidence in the state Congress and all the leaders will stand on the same platform on Wednesday. The new president of the TPCC was elected democratically after seeking the opinion of the leaders,” said Mallu Ravi. He stated that when Revanth Reddy met MLA Jagga Reddy Sangareddy, the latter assured him of his full support. “It’s time to get new submissions” said Jagga Reddy after meeting the scammer Revanth Reddy.
In another interesting development, AICC secretaries Bose Raju and Srinivasan met CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in the evening. The two secretaries were believed to have tried to pacify Bhatti Vikramarka by noting that he was “somewhat upset” over the appointment of Revanth Reddy as TPCC president, ignoring his “seniority” in the party.
TPCC chief calls on Ramoji Rao
Revanth Reddy also called Eenadu Group president Ramoji Rao on Tuesday and was believed to have sought his blessings. Earlier he also called Andhra Jyothi newspaper MD Radhakrishna and TV5 channel management.
