Rishab Shetty has shot to fame across the country with his latest Kannada film Kantara, and has become a constant at most year-end roundtables by media portals this year. Rishabh, who has written, directed and played the lead in Kantara, won heaps of praise from critics and audiences for his serious work in the film’s hair-raising climax. Now, Kantara has broken down the climax sequence by shedding light on some BTS moments in a recent video shared by Netflix.

Kantara was released in theaters on September 30 and went on to earn over 400 million at the worldwide box office. After an impressive run in theaters across the nation, the blockbuster film made its way to OTT, with the original Kannada version and its Hindi dubbed on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix respectively. And it received an amazing response from viewers on both streaming platforms.

Following Kantara’s release on Netflix, the streamer shared a six-minute video of Rishab Shetty talking about the critically acclaimed film’s pre-climax fight sequence where landlord Devendra Suttooru is brutally beaten up. In the clip, Rishab also opened up about the physical and emotional turmoil he went through, and how he had to continue filming despite his skin being burnt and lacerated.

Elaborating on the climactic fight sequence, Risha Shetty shared, “Before the Guliga sequence, there is a fire sequence. People hit me with fire sticks. I had scratches on my back. My skin was scratched and burnt. There were blisters everywhere. Doing it with VFX if we tried or used a body double, then it wouldn’t look real. We didn’t even have time for that. I was losing my patience too. I was so angry. If someone tried to annoy me, I would hit them.”

Kantara is one of the highest grossing Indian movies of 2022. After KGF: Chapter 2 and Vikrant Rona, it became the third pan-Indian superhit film to come out of the realms of Kannada cinema this year. Kantara is also the second highest-grossing Sandalwood film of all time, with Yash’s KGF 2 at the top.
