Kerala Road Safety Authority and National Transport Planning and Research Center (NATPAC) will jointly organize a one-day road safety training for selected students from primary to high school.

Students from 100 selected schools in 14 districts of the state will participate in the training.

General Education Minister V. Sivankutty will inaugurate the ‘Safe Route to School’ program at Attakulangara Government Central High School at 10 am on Thursday. It will be chaired by Transport Minister Antony Raju.

Along with expert training on road safety for students from the road safety cell of each selected school, an assessment of road safety issues around the school will be conducted and solutions will be recommended to improve student safety.

The first ‘Safe road to school’ training and road safety assessment will be held at Attakulangara school, which will host the inauguration.

The program aims to improve students’ awareness of road safety through the intervention of teachers, parents and society, they said.
