“I am a strong advocate of live streaming. It will bring transparency,” said judge Oka.

He also said that the public should know how the courts work. Although live broadcasting is not possible in all cases, the proceedings of the constitutional courts are being broadcast live.

While speaking at an event organized by the Bombay Bar Association, Western India Advocates Association and Bombay Incorporated Law Society on the theme ‘Role of Technology in Courts’, Justice Oka emphasized on the use of technology during the lockdown. in the High Court of Karnataka, where he served as Chief Justice.

“It is a misconception that the judiciary started using technology after the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March 2020. The lockdown was only a trigger, we were using technology much earlier…” he added.

Justice Oka also stressed that the use of technology is the only way forward and the next step would be the digitization of all files before the courts and district courts.
