Warangal: Demanding District Collector Dr B Gopi to ensure the cancellation of the demonstration, a scribe of a vernacular newspaper issued a notice regarding the cancellation of his accreditation card, several journalists staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate at Kaloji center in Hanamkonda on Monday.
They have also demanded an inquiry into the irregularities in the transfer of teachers by the Vasanthi District Education Officer (DEO). They have criticized the attitude of District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Bandi Pallavi for canceling the accreditation card of a Rajanna of a Telugu newspaper.
Thus, Telangana State Union of Journalists (TUWJ-IJU), Hanamkonda District President Gaddam Raji Reddy and Secretary Thota Sudhakar said that the authorities did not follow proper procedure to send the show cause notice to the scribe.
“It is not right on the part of the DPRO to show Rajanna who wrote about the alleged irregularities in the transfer of teachers. We ask the District Collector to take action against the responsible officials”, they said, adding that they have also submitted a representation to the Collector.
“He (the Collector) promised to consider withdrawing the notification,” they said.
