SHGs in Tamil Nadu get adequate support from the government, says Udayanidhi

The Tamil Nadu government has provided adequate support to women’s self-help groups and they will continue to receive support in the coming years, Sports Development and Youth Welfare Minister Udayanidhi Stalin said on Saturday.

Speaking at a private job mela held at Chellappa Vidya Mandir International School, Karaikudi, she said that women’s empowerment begins when the economic conditions of women from marginalized sections improve. Presenting checks worth ₹8.61 crore to 113 SHGs comprising 1,641 members, the government said it would continue to provide similar support to other sections of the underprivileged in the society.

Sivaganga Collection P. Madhusudan Reddy said that in the district 95 job molasses for youth were from diploma, BE and Commerce, Arts and Science streams.

Ministers Regupathy and KR Periakaruppan in their speech said how DMK fulfilled its poll promise in the field of education. The Faculty of Law and the School of Agriculture in the district have greatly benefited the students: 80 students joined the first year of law and 47 students are taking various courses in the agricultural college.
