Siddique Kappan’s wife on his bail, Siddique Kappan bail, wife reacts, kerala journalist jailed in up, media freedom in india

Lucknow: “One ray of justice later, I am happy with it,” Siddique Kappan’s wife Raihana Siddique said on Friday after the Allahabad High Court granted bail to the Kerala journalist in a money laundering case.

Lucknow high court judge Dinesh Kumar Singh granted bail to Kappa, who is currently lodged in Lucknow district jail.

Speaking to PTI, Raihana Siddique said, “The High Court has granted bail in the ED case. A ray of justice late. I am happy. But, despite getting bail from the Supreme Court four months ago. In the UAPA case, its (bail) verification has not been completed till now “.

He was arrested two years ago on his way to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, where a Dalit woman died after allegedly being raped.

Hari and three others — Athikur Rehman, Alam and Masood — were accused of having links with the Popular Front of India and being part of a conspiracy to promote violence.

The police booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Information Technology (IT) Act.

In September, the Supreme Court granted him bail in that case. But he remained in prison because of the money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

Kappan’s lawyer Mohamed Dhanish KS said the granting of bail by the High Court has paved the way for him to be released from prison after completion of the formalities.

His lawyer told PTI, “For the first case, the Supreme Court granted him bail on September 9. But the bail verification is not done even after three months. So that is the main problem (to get him out of jail). And as far as today’s verdict is concerned, we have to apply. . Not loaded yet.”

In her statement, Raihana Siddique also said, “Alam, the driver of the car he was traveling in, remains in jail despite being granted bail due to verification issues. I hope justice is served and he will be released soon and he will reach his family.”
