In a major development in the TRS MLAs poaching case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana Police has summoned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary (Organization) BL Santhosh. The SIT has issued a notice to the BJP leader under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) asking him to appear before it on Monday, November 21. Santhosh has been ordered to report to the Hyderabad Police Command and Control Center at 10:30 am. on monday The SIT has stated in a statement that if they do not appear before it, they will be arrested. The notice sent to the BJP office in Bengaluru’s Malleshwaram asked Santhosh to bring a specific mobile phone without deleting any information on which the accused are believed to have contacted him. “Failure to attend/comply with the terms of this notice may make you liable to arrest under Section 41-A (3) and (4) of the CrPC,” he said.
BL Santhosh’s name had surfaced in the alleged interview of three alleged BJP operatives arrested by the police last month for trying to lure four Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs to the BJP’s doorstep with a huge sum of money. The SIT has sent Kerala doctor Jaggu Swami, Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) president Tushar Vellapally and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, a lawyer and relative of Telangana BJP president, for questioning. All four have been called on the same day. They have been asked to appear before the SIT for questioning about their links with the three accused arrested in the case last month.
Meanwhile, the BJP has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the notices issued by the SIT to BL Santhosh and a lawyer.
“Notices are being issued to people who have no connection with the case,” BJP general secretary Gujjula Premendar Reddy said in his interim plea.
