Strict traffic control at Thamarassery ghat road on Dec 22 night

Thamarassery: Kozhikode district collector reported that no vehicle has entered the Thamarassery ghat road since 11 pm on Thursday night. Private vehicles will not be allowed as tow trucks carrying huge machinery to the factory of Nestle India Limited at Nanjangud are taking this route from the ghat road. On the night of December 22, Bildu asked the citizens to use alternative routes.

The trucks, which arrived at Adivaram on September 10, have been parked here for over three months. The authorities stopped the trucks, citing that passing these huge vehicles through the ghat road will cause heavy traffic jam. Permission to pass through the ghat road has been obtained recently.

The due date was given only after the Annamalai transport company submitted documents, including an affidavit, a demand draft worth Rs 20 lakh and a certificate from the Ministry of Road Transport Authority.

Thamarassery DySP Shraf Thengilakkandy sent letters to the Fire Force, Forest department, ghat protection committee, Puthuppady grama panchayat and KSEB seeking necessary assistance while the large dimension hydraulic modular trailers are passing through the ghat road.
