Tamil Nadu board students do not need Class X marks for JEE Main exam, says NTA | Chennai News


CHENNAI: In a big relief JEE Main Candidates from Tamil Nadu, National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Saturday that students of the state board could apply for the main examination to be held in January 2023 without their Class X examination marks.
“It has been decided while completing the online application JEE Main examination session 1, when the candidate selects the school board for the academic year 2021 Tamil Nadu State School Board Examinationthe result mode field will be disabled and marks/CGPA related fields will be invisible for Tamil Nadu State Board candidates who have passed Class X in 2021,” Sadhana Parashar, director general (examinations), NTA, said in a statement.
The same rule will apply to candidates who have paid the fee.
Fields including total marks, marks obtained and percentage of marks will be hidden in the application form.
“If any candidate is facing difficulty in applying for JEE (Main) – 2023 Session I (January 2023), they may contact 011-40759000/011-69227700 or email jeemain@nta.ac.in,” the notice said.
NTA has organized the first session of JEE Exam from 24th to 31st January and online applications opened on 15th December.
Tamil Nadu state board students, however, complained that they could not apply for the JEE Main exam without their Class X marks. To this group of Class X students, the school’s education department issued slips stating that they had only passed or failed as their exams scheduled for June 2021 had to be canceled due to the pandemic.
In the online application of JEE-Main, however, it was mandatory to fill the Class X total marks, marks obtained and percentage of marks. Parents and students of Tamil Nadu and education department officials sent representations to the NTA, alleging that no marks were awarded in the Class X mark sheet.
