The Tata Punch is among the best-selling SUVs in India.
Today by car: Tata Motors, which currently leads the electric vehicle (PV) segment in India, is working on the Punch EV, according to various media reports. It sells the main domestic cars Nexon EV, Tigor EV and recently launched Tiago EV.
In the PV electric market, Tata Motors had a share of 87% in FY22. The company showcased the concept version of Curvv EV and Avinya EV earlier this year in April. By CY26, it will have 10 electric models in its portfolio.
Tata Punch, along with Tata Nexon, recorded handsome volumes during the year. Both the SUVs have taken Tata Motors to the top spot in the SUV rankings in CY22. During January-November, the company sold 326,354 SUV units in the domestic market.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Vice President Sales, Marketing and Customer Care Rajan Amba recently told India Today that the SUV segment has been led by Punch and Nexon for the company.
Tata Punch is also the first model in the industry to achieve the sales milestone of 100,000 units in 11 months. The subcompact SUV is powered by a 1.2 liter Revotron naturally aspirated petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 86 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.
While the ICE variant of the Punch is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8.94 lakh (ex-showroom), the Punch EV can be positioned between the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV.
