Hyderabad: As cases of a new variant of Covid broke out in China and other countries, Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao asked the people of the state not to panic and be vigilant.
In view of the increasing spread of coronavirus in many countries, including China, Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao held a high-level review on Covid preparedness through Zoom on Thursday following instructions issued by the central government. Telangana Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao said: “There is no need to worry about the corona, but there is a need to be vigilant. Everyone is advised to respect personal hygiene and those who have not received the covid vaccine should immediately take it and take a booster dose.”
Health Medical Secretary Rizvi, Family Welfare Commissioner Swetha Mahanty, Public Health Director G Srinivasa Rao, Medical Education Director Ramesh Reddy, TSMSIDC President Errolla Srinivas, Dr. Chandrasekhar Reddy, TVVP Commissioner Ajay Kumar also attended the meeting.
The officials informed the minister about the spread and impact of the Corona Omicron BF7 variant in different countries and states. Later, the minister reviewed the Health Department’s Covid preparedness.
The minister appealed to the public not to panic as the government is ready to control the spread of Covid. “Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Telangana state has already successfully faced the Corona wave and has emerged as the best state in the country,” he said.
The minister ordered the medical officers to intensify the examination. Officials were instructed to have human resources, medicines, oxygen and ICU beds fully ready.
“As directed by the central government, positive samples should be sent to Gandhi Hospital for genome sequencing and screening should be done at the airport,” Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao said.
In the past six months, India reported four cases of the BF.7 Omicron sub-variant, which is fueling a surge in infections in China.
According to sources, there are currently 10 different variants of Covid-19 in the country, the latest being BF.7. (ANI)
