Srinagar: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday.
“Among the three neutralized local terrorists, two were identified as Lateef Lone of Shopian, who were involved in the killing of one Kashmiri Pandit Purana Krishna Bhat; and Umer Nazir of Anantnage, who were involved in the killing of Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal. One AK-47 rifle and two pistols have been recovered,” J&K Police tweeted, quoting Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar.
The encounter began after a joint team of police and security forces tipped off about the presence of terrorists in that Munjh Marg area.
After the area was cordoned off, the terrorists started firing with the security forces retaliating.
